Dr. Nagarakanti had been a dedicated clinical researcher and was an investigator for several multinational trials such as Randomized Evaluation of Longterm anticoagulation therapy (RE-LY) and efficacy and safety of budiodarone in paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PASCAL). He has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts and textbook chapters. He received the “Best paper award” from American heart association for the cardioversion analysis paper in the Circulation journal, which received highest level of citation in 2011.

Current research interests include improving the safety and efficacy of atrial fibrillation ablation and anticoagulation in the peri-ablation period.
